Program Staff
Camp Counselor
Qualifications:
|
At least 18 years of age or must have had significant training or experience to assume counseling responsibilities.
|
|
Should be a high school graduate, and preferably have at least on year of college-level education.
|
|
Must attend the pre-camp orientation training sessions.
|
|
Must have satisfactory completed the camp staff application.
|
Responsibilities:
|
Be a spiritual leader & example to the campers and fellow staff members.
|
|
Live with the group of 7-10 campers, and help each camper to adapt to and profit from the camping experience.
|
|
Acquaint campers with the facilities, program, and rules of camp.
|
|
Lead or assist with program activities as assigned by the program director.
|
|
Be prepared to lead and assist in camp devotional periods.
|
|
Sit with assigned group in dining hall and maintain order at individual tables.
|
|
Maintain personal devotional times.
|
|
Participate in the A.M. Staff Prayer & Praise time.
|
|
Fill out personal record card for each camper in cabin group.
|
|
Complete staff evaluation form for the season.
|
Camp Nurse
Qualifications:
|
Must have a current R.N. license, preferably by the State of Pennsylvania.
|
|
Must have satisfactorily completed the camp staff application.
|
Responsibilities:
|
During pre-camp orientation, discuss health and safety procedures, precautions and routines with staff.
|
|
Check campers and staff on arrival to camp.
|
|
Establish regular hours for "sick or medicine call" in consultation with the Camp Director.
|
Report all admissions at the infirmary to the Head Counselor.
Be responsible for all drugs, medicines and first-aid kits brought to camp by campers and staff.
|
|
Administer all medicines and treatments according to physicians orders and keep records of all such treatments.
|
Maintain accurate infirmary records, treatments, purchases and inventory.
Guide counselors in regard to their responsibilities by noting and reporting illness, injury, dangerous practices and conditions which may lead to, or contribute to accident or poor health.
|
|
Guide staff in noting and reporting symptoms of disturbance such as failure to eat, restless sleep, nail biting, bed wetting, marked change in behavior, etc.
|
|
Spot check living quarters for health, safety and sanitary conditions.
|
|
Dispense and account for first-aid kits used on hikes, etc. (Any use of first-aid materials MUST be reported to nurse and included in the records.)
|
|
The camp nurse may be called upon to teach first-aid or some other class of interest and assist in other areas of the program.
|
|
Oversee care of the infirmary (including linens).
|
|
Pack, and record written inventory of all medicines and supplies at the close of camp.
|
|
Participate in the A.M. Staff Prayer & Praise time.
|
|
Willingly participate in other areas of the summer program as the need arises and time permits.
|
Program Specialist
Qualifications:
|
College graduate or specialized training or experience which will enable him/her to make a significant contribution to the program.
|
|
Must have satisfactorily completed the camp staff application.
|
Responsibilities:
|
Primarily, the term "Program Specialist" refers to non-cabincounseling program staff whose main responsibility will be as an instructor of an activity, class or skill.
|
|
Be on call for Counselor/instructor responsibilities in cases of emergency and on counselor's day off.
|
|
Assume or assist in duties and responsibilities as assigned by Camp Director or Program Director.
|
|
Participate in the A.M. Staff Prayer & Praise time.
