Streamside has been serving as the camping location for World Impact’s East Region since 2014. During that time, we formed precious relationships with the wonderful missionaries serving urban youth in Chester, PA, Newark, NJ and at Newark Christian School. These World Impact missionaries have relocated to the neighborhoods they serve to lead neighborhood Bible clubs, plant churches, provide quality education choices, equip urban leaders and empower the urban poor.

Steve and Ruth Hoernig have come to Streamside many times with the children, teens and church families they have been serving through their ministry with World Impact and strongly believe in the mission of Streamside. Steve has experience as a journeyman plumber and heating technician, has served as the maintenance director at a camp previously and is currently the facility manager at World Impact’s Newark Christian School. Ruth is serving in the office at NCS. The Hoernigs together have conducted neighborhood Bible clubs, organized camps for children and planted an inner city church. They are truly like-minded and understand both the needs of children and teens in the city as well as what it takes to reach them effectively.

In July, the Hoernigs will be transitioning their missionary status from World Impact to BCM International and joining the team at Streamside. Together they will lead our Service & Leadership Training (SLT) Program. This is a discipleship and employment training program that prepares urban youth for productive lives in service to the Lord. During the retreat season, Steve will put his facility management experience to good use on our maintenance team. We are excited to benefit from his vast expertise as well as his ability to mobilize volunteers in ministry.

Beginning in July, you can support the Hoernigs ministry at Streamside along with our other BCM missionaries at
